Registration guidelines for corporations etc. involving foreign nationals amended

The Japanese Justice Ministry in charge of the registration procedures for corporates has issued new guidelines in case that foreign nationals, expats etc. are involved in founding new corporations in Japan.

Changes include:

  • no longer necessary that one of the representative directors has an address in Japan
  • simplifications for the payment certificate when establishing a stock company
  • clarifications in regard to accounting and payment procedures when the director of an incorporated entity is also the account holder of the deposit passbook
  • some foreign documents when establishing a company no longer need to be translated
