RENEXPO® HYDRO 2014: SOLUTIONS FOR HYDRO POWER AND WATER PROTECTION

“Water is not a commercial product like any other but, rather, a heritage which must be protected, defended and treated as such.” This was the key reason for introducing the 2000/60/EG directive, which establishes a framework for water policy in the European Union.

The ambitious aim of the EU Water Framework Directive is to achieve good ecological status of all water bodies in EU member states by the year 2027. Many power plants are currently combining obligatory environmental upgrades (e.g. building appropriate fish bypasses) with technical changes and plant modernisation.

This is precisely where RENEXPO® HYDRO 2014 comes in, as the hydro power exhibition for Austria, Germany, Switzerland and South Tyrol. It offers solutions for sustainable hydro power usage and water protection and addresses topics such as how to correct ecological mistakes made in the past and still be able to operate a profitable power plant. This is possible through a combination of state-of-the-art power plant technology coupled with fit-for-purpose environmental measures.

The core areas of RENEXPO® HYDRO are turbines, hydroelectric screws, fish bypasses, measuring and control technology, pipes, generators, as well as science and research. The accompanying congress offers operators, designers, project developers, investors, policymakers, industry experts, municipalities, energy providers and research institutes a unique two-day platform for knowledge transfer, exchanging experience and networking. A framework programme with excursions and trade forums complements the event.
